Is dating a divorced older man good?

For many younger women looking for older men, seeing ‘Divorced’ as part of the conversation can feel scary. However, it really should not be that big a deal – not at least until the reasons why are made clear. If you are looking to meet someone who is a bit older and you want to ensure that the divorce side of things won’t become an issue, then it helps to understand why being with an older man who has been through divorce helps.

Let's look at the reasons why.

Been There, Done It. Are you one of the many women looking for older men but not into the whole serious relationship thing? Divorce means that’s more likely, not less. They’ve already had the stress and pressure of marriage – why would they want to go down that route again in the future? With a divorced male, you get all the help that you need in finding that out for yourself.

Less Stress. Younger women looking for older men should look for divorcees as they tend to be far less stressful. They aren’t usually in some funk or worried about 'meeting the right one' so you can both just take it as it comes and see where the relationship winds up. No need for fears about being hitched or anything like that; an older man might just want to relax and have fun and see where it goes.

Greater Experience. Someone who has been through the stress and irritation of a divorce has been through the experience and probably knows what went wrong. As such when you are together they are much more likely to want to work through things, to avoid the same mistakes as last time, and to work with you in a positive manner. This can make a big difference in making sure that you both feel comfortable in the company of one another without the usual frustrating arguments that you might find with someone who is your own age.

Less Pressure. A good part of being with a divorcee is the fact they don’t put you under anything the same pressure to make a commitment. They are likely wanting to move at a slower pace, too, meaning the relationship can evolve – if it’s a relationship that you both even want, some just want to have a little fun!

Better Potential. It's much easier to engage with someone without all the expectation surrounding it. if you are both just looking to have some fun and engage with each other then it’s much easier to have some fun and see where it goes.

Start adding pressure on top, though, and the whole thing becomes a little uncomfortable. This makes it much easier for you to start making the right kind of changes to the time that you spend together. Just remember, whether it’s fun or love, you don’t need to be put off by a (D) in someone's relationship history!
